Theatrical Stage Makeup Workshop with Year 8 and 9 students

*No students were harmed in the running of this workshop!

This week we were lucky enough to have professional makeup artist Kate Griffiths visit MGGS on Tuesday and Thursday to work with 120 of our Year 8 and 9 students.  In the workshops, Kate taught students how to use different types of makeup and prosthetics to help create realistic injuries used in the theatre and film industry.  Students began by learning how to create a bruise, they then moved onto a cut with what looked like fresh blood.  Once students had been shown how to create these different effects they were then given an hour to experiment and try out their own special effects.

We had a number of vampire bites, werewolf scratches, bullet wounds, glass protruding from cheeks, Joker smiles and many more innovative injuries!  It was a fun and fascinating insight into behind the scenes of the theatre and film industry.

Thank you to Kate Griffiths and everyone who took part!
