Year 9 Maths Trip to the O2

Last week, 110 Year 9 students from MGGS travelled to the O2 to complete the “Up at the O2” climb as part of our STEAM week celebrations.

Students learnt about the complex design of the O2, the Mathematics behind its structure and during their climb were intrigued by the vast expanses of London, being able to take inviews over the Greenwich Observatory and Canary Wharf. For many though, the greatest excitement came from seeing the bright blue building of Ikea!

All students showed courage and a supportive attitude towards each other on the climb, with every student successfully completing the vertical climb of 52m.

My greatest thanks to all students on the trip for rising to the challenge and to the staff for making it happen!
