Action Packed RISE Day @MGGS

Resilience ~ Inspiration ~ Support ~ Excellence

The first RISE day of the year was definitely action packed. There were so many events going on but here are a few highlights!

Year 7 had a focus on ‘Health and Wellbeing’ with topics ranging from road safety to managing emotions. The day ended with a team building exercise where Year 7s were challenged to build the tallest freestanding structure from just sellotape and newspaper!

Year 8s meanwhile had a day focused on ‘Relationships and Conflict’ where they looked at important topics such as peer pressure and online relationships. The day culminated with a workshop from poet and rapper Paul Cree. The students came up with their own raps and  poems based around the issues they had looked at in the day.

Year 12 and 13 explored a range of topics from social media, mental health to careers. Both year groups got the opportunity to hear from financial advisor Max Sullivan about managing money – a crucial topic as these year groups look towards university, apprenticeships and jobs.

Finally, these year groups went head to head in the inaugural RISE day Sixth Form benchball tournament!
