MGGS Students Soar with Hamilton: A Day of Broadway Magic, Backstage Insights, and Aspiring Performers!

We are thrilled to share with you the exhilarating experience our students had on the 18th of January during our unforgettable trip to see the acclaimed musical, Hamilton. This trip was not a mere outing; it was an immersive exploration into the world of performing arts, offering our students a unique opportunity to engage with the cast and crew of this groundbreaking production.

The day began with a special workshop at Pineapple Studios, where our students had the privilege of learning the intricate moves for the iconic song, “My Shot,” under the guidance of cast members from Hamilton. This behind-the-scenes peek into the choreography and the dedication required for such a high-energy performance was both enlightening and inspirational for our aspiring performers.

The workshop was an interactive and hands-on experience, allowing our students to connect with the cast on a personal level. The talented performers not only shared their expertise but also imparted valuable insights into the world of professional theatre. It was a truly enriching experience, fostering a deeper appreciation for the dedication and hard work that goes into creating a Broadway masterpiece like Hamilton.

Following the workshop, our students were treated to a matinee performance of Hamilton at the theatre. The excitement and anticipation were palpable as the curtains rose, transporting our students into the world of Alexander Hamilton, with its captivating storyline, powerful performances, and unforgettable music. The energy in the theatre was electric, and the students were mesmerised by the talent on display.

We are proud to report that the behaviour of our students during the entire trip was exemplary. Their attentiveness, respect, and enthusiasm were noted not only by our school staff but also by the organisers of London Theatre Tours and the cast members we worked with. It was heartening to see our students representing MGGS with such grace and professionalism, reinforcing the positive reputation of our school within the broader community.

This trip was more than just a cultural outing; it served as a gateway for our students to envision potential careers in the performing arts industry. The first hand exposure to the creative process, coupled with the opportunity to interact with professionals in the field, has sparked a newfound interest and passion among our students.

As we reflect on this exceptional day, we are grateful for the experiences and memories created for our students. Such excursions not only broaden their horizons but also instil a sense of appreciation for the arts and the diverse career paths available in this dynamic industry. We cannot wait to take the next groups of Year 9s in March.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all those involved in making this trip a reality, and we look forward to more enriching experiences that will continue to shape the aspirations and dreams of our students.
