Shakespeare’s Shorts: More photos!

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances…

This year’s MGGS whole school production of Shakespeare’s Shorts was performed in the Main Hall on February 7th and 8th. Shakespeare’s Shorts was made up of abridged versions of Twelfth Night, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Each thirty minute piece was staged in its own unique way. Twelfth Night was set in the roaring 20’s and featured period costume and dancing, Macbeth played out in a dark and smoky post apocalyptic world and A Midsummer Night’s Dream brought us back to the present day with tricks and confusion a plenty.

Over fifty students were involved on and off stage, and all of them worked extremely hard in rehearsals and on the nights. Staging any play comes with its own challenges but adding Shakespeare’s language into the mix certainly added another level of challenge for our young performers. But each of them did brilliantly at learning lines and communicating their character and words to the audience.

It was a real pleasure to work with everyone involved in putting on Shakespeare’s Shorts. We are extremely proud of all of the cast and crew and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank them all.

Well done on a fabulous show and we hope to see lots of you back next year!
